Supervision Workshop

This six-day workshop offers participants the opportunity to address questions that have surfaced during their first year in practice; Supervision is mandatory and completes the Basic Rolfing® Training program.

Questions & Answers

_MG_0907Every newly Certified Rolfer™ will encounter challenging situations and experiences during their first year in practice.  Having the opportunity to share those experiences with others who are going through the same thing, in a “supervised” setting, provides reassurance and builds confidence. The Supervision workshop is designed to provide this opportunity.  Experienced Rolfing® Instructors will work with each class to address individual needs, thus the content is set by the needs of the participants.

Depending on your needs, you might address specific questions regarding your own clients and treatment strategy, or repeat the 10 Series under supervision, or deepen your understanding of specific techniques or territories of the body, all of which will be explained to you in further detail.  One key element is the monitoring by experienced instructors who are looking for personal habits that have developed, general issues that are common to each class, and other details that often fall in the category “things you don’t know, you don’t know”.

Gaining insight about your – self and work

  • Have you developed bad habits when working, where your body use is no longer safe?
  • Are you inadvertently performing techniques poorly or with less effectiveness?
  • What are you not doing and not aware you are lacking in your work?

You can gain significant insight into self and your work while giving sessions to external clients during this workshop.  Occasionally, even your original external clients from Phase III who have expressed interest in continuing to work with you. The personalized feedback from the instructors is very helpful not only offering pointers for developing your own working style, but also offering new insights into how you work and where you need to be more aware of things you fail to notice.

When: 1 year after completion of Phase III of the Basic Rolfing® Training in either modular or intensive format. You should schedule your Supervision once you have time working with clients in your practice.
