IN CONNECTION – 2018

Welcome to Berlin and to our ERA Conference 2018!

We are pleased to invite you to a very special ERA Conference 2018 themed „IN CONNECTION“. The theme represents the many ways that the ERA and Rolfing are linked and interconnected with the world around us. Specifically, highlighting our association with the International Fascia Research Congress 2018.

We start this year’s program with three 3-day workshops running in parallel featuring: Pedro Prado, Mary Bond and Jonathan Martine / Suzanne Picard. On Saturday, we also offer a fourth, 1-day workshop, by Bibiana Badenes.

The 2-day ERA-Conference follows on Sunday and Monday including one panel discussion featuring: Robert Schleip, Adjo Zorn, Franz Mechsner, and Speaker sessions with Peter Schwind, Rita Geirola, Pedro Prado, Jon Martine & Suzanne Picard, Mary Bond, Steffan Dennenmoser, and Thomas Sonnleitner. The following day is the Fascia Research Congress Workshop Day where several ERA members are offering workshops.

EARLY BIRD registration is open until May 31st 2018; prices for regular registration are published for your information. As of June 1st 2018 regular registration will be opened.

She is the head of Kinesis, a somatic therapy clinic. Bibiana trained as both a Physical Therapist graduated from the University of Valencia and she is Advanced Certified Rolfer™ and Rolf Movement™ Practitioner. A pioneer in connecting and building bridges among distinct therapeutic disciplines, Bibiana searches for an inter-disciplinary dialogue through health which can be accessible to everyone.

Mary BondMary Bond studied with Dr. Ida Rolf from 1969 to 1972. Formerly Chair of the US Rolf Movement® faculty, she has been involved in movement education from the early days with Judith Aston, and has been profoundly influenced by the work of Hubert Godard. She is author of The New Rules of Posture and a multimedia book, Your Body Mandala: Posture as a Path to Presence. It is her joy to share her perspective of movement education.

Stefan Dennenmoser, PhD Doctorate in human biology, University degree in Sports Science at the TU Munich, Germany, Member of the Fascia Research Group Ulm-University Co-Founder of the Fascial Fitness concept with Dr. Robert Schleip, Decades of teaching at the school for physiotherapy FN, Germany, Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Trainer, Certified Advanced Rolfer and Rolf-Movement-Teacher. Since 1995: Clinical (Rolfing) practice in Ravensburg and Ulm, Germany

Jonathan MartineJonathan Martine was certified as a Rolfer™ in 1992. He has been an instructor in the Rolf Institute® Certification program since 1993 and teaches in Basic and Advanced Trainings as well as Rolf Movement™ Certification. In addition, he has studied therapies that treat the fascial systems of the viscera, neural, vascular and cranium in order to include these structures in his work. He has studied movement and manual therapies extensively through Rolfing, Physical Therapy, Pilates, Osteopaths and rehabilitative sciences.

Franz MechsnerFranz Mechsner PhD is a human biologist and author. He has worked as a movement researcher for Max Planck Institute, the University of Northumbria and other scientific institutions. As an author he received several literature awards. He is interested to understand how our brain organizes complex movements based on the perception of our own body and how this is embedded in the overall interaction with the environment. His related contributions have been covered in high ranking scientific journals (such as Nature).

Suzanne PicardSuzanne Picard, MFA, has been part of the Rolf Institute® Faculty since 1995 as a leader in the Foundations program, and presently acting Chair of the US Rolf Movement® Faculty. Her studies include extensive Movement training, Visceral and Neural Manipulation, and Cranial Therapy. Her personal practices include continuum and yoga. Suzanne’s passion is embodied anatomy, perception, and the increased vitality and development that this supports.

Pedro PradoPedro Prado’s research focus and signature approach to the clinical practice and teaching of Rolfing® SI concern how best to build bridges among the structural, functional and psychobiological perspectives. Dr. Prado, a clinical psychologist and former professor of Somatic Psychology, has been teaching Rolfing for over 25 years He is a member of the Advanced and Movement faculties of the Rolf Institute®; and an Advanced Instructor for the Somatic Experiencing® Trauma Institute.

Robert SchleipRobert Schleip PhD has been a certified Rolfer since 1978, a Feldenkrais Practitioner since 1987 and a Rolfing® Instructor since 1992. In 2005 he took a sabbatical to explore the scientific basis of fascial plasticity. Due to the increasing fascination by what he found, he has extended this sabbatical until today. However, he keeps daydreaming about returning to his Rolfing® practice. Today he is director of the Fascia Research Group at Ulm University, and also Research Director of the ERA.

Peter SchwindPeter Schwind, Ph.D. Has been working as a Rolfer™ in Munich since 1980. As an instructor he has taught basic classes since 1985. He assisted and cotaught several advanced classes since 1991 and was certified as an Advanced Rolfing® Instructor in 1999. Peter has shared his view of working with the human organism by writing several books.

Adjo ZornAdjo Zorn received a PhD in physics in 1982 and a German state license in Naturopathic medicine in 1994. He currently works simultaneously in several fields: in his own Rolfing practice (since 1994), as a coach and advisor for psychologists and physicians in psychosomatic clinics and social-work NGOs, and as a specialist software engineer for a German car manufacturer. He has been a member of the Fascia Research Group at Ulm University since 2005. He is a movement enthusiast and has trained in several movement schools, focusing on Capoeira for the last 10 years. The objective of his research is to reassess human walking by bringing together perspectives from physics and mathematics, fascia anatomy and physiology, manual therapy and dexterity skills.
