I was born and raised in Brazil, to British/Brazilian parents who were keen to instil in me the importance and need of empathy and kindness to others. Nature had a huge impact in my upbringing. Some of my fondest memories of growing up in the tropics are of our visits to the beach and listening to the sounds of night creatures by the fire at the back of our garden.
Inspired by my love of nature, I studied Biology at the University of Minas Gerais, graduating in Environmental Sciences in 1988. In 1990, I moved to the UK to pursue a career in environmental management and research.
I was first introduced to Rolfing in the late 90s as I witnessed, first hand, the potential of body therapy, and Rolfing in particular, to positively impact a person’s life and mental health. Since then, I have explored various forms of alternative medicine and yoga, being open and curious as to how various therapies help people heal, change and grow. In 2018, I trained in Holistic Massage Therapy, and established a small practice in the East End of London. Later that same year, I begun a three-year training course in Rolfing Structural Integration with the European Rolfing Association, eventually graduating in 2021.
In Rolfing, I have found a practice that is very much in tune with my beliefs and outlook in life. Our perceptions and experiences are constantly nourished by other beings, as well as the textures, shapes, sounds and smells of the landscape in which we live. What we sense in our bodies has the power to change the way we think and feel. This is why I think bodywork – and Rolfing, in particular – is so exciting and powerful. I hope to convey and share this excitement to my clients, and through our work together, nurture and support them to realize their potential.
