Role: Teacher
Certified Rolfer®
Jakob Reichardt has been a Certified Rolfer® since 2021, he is a member of the Life Sciences Faculty of Dr. Ida Rolf Institute for Structural Integration (DIRI) and teaches anatomy, actually for Level 1, at the European Rolfing Association e.V.
Before Rolfing
Jakob majored in Sports Science (B.Sc.) from the Technical University in Munich (TUM) in 2018. As a lifelong competitive athlete himself he always had a fascination for the physicality of the human body. While his studies at TUM laid a first theoretical foundation, he always missed a more direct and practicable approach. As a Strength & Conditioning Coach at a local Boxing Gym Jakob was first able to bring his theoretical concepts from university into practice.
Inspiration to train in Rolfing®
„As a competitive athlete, Rolfing® has been the method that not only was able to alleviate pain and release excess tension after intense bouts of training or injury, but it was also the only method that approached my body in a coherent fashion - respecting the various interdependencies of our structure. Although my studies at TUM laid a great theoretical foundation in anatomy, movement science & biomechanics, the theory soon appeared rather abstract and reductionistic. I missed a practical, hands-on approach. Due to my past experiences, choosing Rolfing® was the next logical step.“
Teaching Method
In my understanding, „anatomy“ is the language we as practitioners of Rolfing® speak. The more precise and clear your vocabulary becomes, the better you can rid yourself from its rules, hence engage in a deeper and more spontaneous communication.
