ScarWork according to Sharon Wheeler

Both techiques are within the scope of…
ScarWork is the art of integrating scars into the fascial web. Developed by Sharon Wheeler, this method teaches practitioners to help fibrous, disorganised scar tissue blend with the established collagen matrix around it.
Creating scar tissue is the body’s way of mending trauma. As scar tissue matures, however, it can pull and drag on the surrounding tissues and leave us with tension, restriction and disorganisation – sometimes well beyond the scar itself.
ScarWork uses a very light touch. It starts with the surface layers and gradually works towards deeper layers and the viscera involved. Practitioners describe changes in both the function and the appearance of scar tissue, and the techniques combine easily with Rolfing® Structural Integration and other modalities.
